Writer's picture: Isaac EdlundIsaac Edlund

A new year is here, and that means new movies, TV shows, and video games are on the horizon. More opportunities to laugh, cry, and argue on the internet, amiright? In what will hopefully become an annual publication, we'd love to share with you the things we're pumped about this year, and maybe get you excited about them too! On the Infinity Bros Podcast, we rate things on a scale of 1-6; one being horrible, and 6 being absolutely excellent. On this list of things were excited for in 2025, we'll be rating our hype for each entry! Buckle up folks, lets see what perfectly balanced entertainment is in store for us in 2025. MOVIES

While 2024 had some big highlights, my personal film list did not have a significant amount of bangers. Deadpool & Wolverine smashed records en route to $1.3 billion at the box office, while Inside Out 2 took home the prize for highest earnings with just under $1.7 billion. 2025 looks even more enticing for theaters, with some big time superhero movies and franchise blockbusters rolling in this year. Let's take a look at some that we're looking forward to.

The MCU is back in a huge way, as Anthony Mackie finally returns to the big screen in Captain America: Brave New World - this time as a full fledged Captain America. Harrison Ford takes over as Thunderbolt Ross, and a flurry of smashing action is sure to ensue with his character embracing the Red Hulk as seen in trailers. As a Harrison Ford fan and massive MCU fans, our hype level is off the charts for this one: 6 out of 6. Brave New World premieres on Febuary 14th, 2025.

A new video game movie comes to the big screen as A Minecraft Movie makes it's debut April 4th, 2025. Our guards are up for this one, as live-action actors in an animated world seems like a recipe for disaster, and the trailer didn't do much to reassure us. Hopefully Jack Black, Jason Momoa and more can change our minds. Our hype stands at a 2 out of 6 for this one, hopefully it will be a great one for the kiddos.

Speaking of video game movies, a little known and underrated property comes to theaters in Until Dawn this year. Based on the Supermassive Games creation from 2015, the story will serve as a spin-off of the game in the same universe, but will not adapt the choose-your-own-adventure style video game story closely. With a relatively unknown cast, this could be a sleeper pick that we're keeping our eyes on; our hype is at 4 out of 6, with potential for more as more information or a trailer become available. Until Dawn premieres on April 25th, 2025.

2024 only brought us one MCU film, but that's all about to change in 2025. Thunderbolts* is set to premiere on May 2nd, 2025, and follows the team assembled by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina-Allegra de Fontaine scattered throughout the Disney+ Marvel shows. If we're basing our hype on the success of the shows some of these characters appear in, we might be a little wary; however, the trailer released by Marvel Studios gave us hope, and it seems like a fun time. We'll place our hype at a modest 5 out of 6 for this ragtag team of misfits.

The eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible films lands this year, as Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning lands in theaters on May 23rd, 2025. Could this be Tom Cruise's last MI film? Rumors have flown, but he has neither confirmed nor denied that it could be his final act as Ethan Hunt. Mission: Impossible films are always a good time and full of great action, so our hype for this one is a 4 out of 6.

2025 brings more live-action remakes of animated films, and Lilo & Stitch will be the first to hit theaters. As a beloved childhood animated film, this draws some hype; hopefully Disney will be able to avoid the cash-grab tropes and deliver a solid film for the whole family. We stand cautiously optimistic at a 4 out of 6. Lilo & Stitch debuts on May 23rd, 2025 as well - Mission: Stitch? The Final Stitchening?

Elio is the next original Disney/Pixar collaboration coming to theaters, described as a sci-fi in which an 11-year-old boy becomes Earth's ambassador by accident. We're always down for a solid Pixar flick, so we'll place our hype at 4 out of 6. Elio releases on June 13th, 2025.

That same weekend, another live-action retelling of a solid animated movie comes to the big screen. How to Train Your Dragon is a beloved and honestly underrated Dreamworks trilogy that is ripe for additions, and the trailer looks like they're trying to stick pretty close to the source materiel. Color us intrigued for this one, with a hype level of 5 out of 6.

A third installment to Danny Boyle's post-apoctolyptic films, 28 Years Later, is slated to premiere on June 20th, 2025. Cillian Murphy returns to produce, while the film will star Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. A must watch for horror fans, but I don't think we're the target audience for this; we'll place our hype at 3 out of 6.

My nostalgic, dinosaur loving heart is jazzed for Jurassic World: Rebirth. I know, I know, these movies are just blockbuster bait, but I'll take that bait every time; especially now that Scarlett Johanssen is joining the franchise. July 2nd is gonna be a rager; dinosaurs, fireworks, and 'Merica? Oh my. 5 out of 6, even if it's no Citizen Kane.

Superman just might be the movie of the year for nerds like us. James Gunn's DCU is in pre-swing with Creature Commandos dropping this month, and Superman will mark the official launch of the live-action side of things. Last month's trailer was just the shot the nerd community needed to start the snowball of hype for this one, and we're already at a 6 out of 6. You want a breakdown of that trailer? We got one for you on episode 216 of the Infinity Bros Podcast! We will be firmly seated and 'looking up' on July 11th, 2025.

THREE Marvel movies in a year?! We're back in the good ol' days! The Fantastic Four: First Steps marks the addition of Marvel's first family to the MCU, and will hopefully get the ball rolling towards Robert Downey Jr.'s Victor Von Doom and Secret Wars. Once the trailer drops and the internet goes wild we will be celebrating, but we're still at a 6 out of 6 hype for Pedro Pascal to woo us once more. F4 drops on July 25th, 2025.

It's been 15 years, but we're finally getting another Tron film. Tron: Ares is set to debut on October 10th, 2025, starring Jared Leto, Evan Peters, and Greta Lee in main roles, and Jeff Bridges returning for his role as Kevin Flynn. The casting of Leto has definitely put a damper on our excitement, but it's still a Tron film, so it'll at least look cool. We'll set our hype at a 3 out of 6, but we're not holding our breath.

Director Dan Trachtenberg surprised everyone with a banger of a film in Prey (2022), so the fact that he's back for Predator: Badlands is very good news. In fact, we loved Prey so much, it won our StanLee Award for 2022 Movie of the Year. So you could say we're a little excited for this one, especially after the announcement that he also filmed another secret Predator movie along with this one. Our hype is an ecstatic 6 out of 6 for this one. Badlands hits theaters on November 7th, 2025.

Wicked: Part One was a smash box office hit in late 2024, garnering almost $700 million to date - pretty solid for a musical. In fact, the biggest box office for a stage musical adaptation by a large margin; surpassing Les Misérables by over $250 million already. The much anticipated part two, now titled Wicked: For Good, premieres on November 21st, 2025, and will give musical fans plenty to be thankful for. Believe it or not, some of the Infinity Bros like musicals, and Wicked is a good one; we're sitting at a 4 out of 6 for Wicked 2.

We're getting a Zootopia sequel nearly 10 years after the original Disney Animation Studio film, and we couldn't be happier about it. Zootopia 2 is sure to be a family crowd pleaser, and we know we're gonna love it as well. Our kids' excitement puts our hype level at a 4 out of 6. Zootopia 2 is set to debut in theaters on November 26th, 2025.

While Avatar remains firmly atop the highest earning franchises per movie, this remains a controversial one for us. Visually, they stand among the most impressive films ever made. Avatar: Fire and Ash hopes to continue both of those trends when it breaks into theaters Christmas week on December 19th, 2025. While we're excited to see what new thing James Cameron will cook up, we're less pumped for the extended run time and monotonous story; our hype stalls at 3 out of 6.

Movies are an art form that really hit you in the heart. They can tug on your heart strings in so many different ways; with joy, hate, laughter, anguish, sorrow, compassion, frustration or excitement. We love experiencing all of these, and can't wait for the movies we've listed, and more! There are certainly many more movies that we didn't list that we will see and enjoy in 2025, so let us know which ones you're excited for that may not have made our list. Check out the Infinity Bros Podcast to hear reviews of our favorite films of 2025, and stay tuned for our 2024 awards show: the StanLee Awards, inevitably coming to a livestream and RSS feed near you!

Isaac Edlund is a co-host of the Infinity Bros Podcast, and loves movies; even if he hasn't seen them all. Or even a lot of them. Actually, it's kind of embarrassing how many movies he hasn't seen. But he still likes watching and reviewing them. Check out his Letterboxd profile for his Nicolas Cage reviews.
